Fotona SmoothEye is a non-invasive laser treatment for the delicate skin around the eyes. It's used to tighten mild laxity, soften fine lines and crow's feet, and improve crepey texture on the upper and lower eyelids and the area around them — without needles, injectables or surgery.
It's designed for the periorbital region specifically, where skin is thin and traditional treatments can be tricky. It suits people wanting a fresher, smoother eye area rather than correction of significant sagging or under-eye bags, which may need other approaches.
How it works
SmoothEye uses a non-ablative Er:YAG laser in Fotona's SMOOTH mode. Instead of removing the surface of the skin, it gently and precisely heats the deeper layers around the eye. That controlled warmth causes existing collagen to contract for an immediate firming effect, and stimulates the skin to build new collagen over the following weeks, gradually tightening and smoothing the area.
Because it's non-ablative, the surface stays intact, which is part of why downtime is low and the treatment is well tolerated in such a sensitive area. The full periocular region can be covered — above, below and to the sides of the eyes.
SmoothEye runs on the Fotona SP Dynamis platform, and is often combined with Fotona4D for full-face rejuvenation.
What to expect
A session is quick and generally comfortable, with most people describing a warm sensation and little to no discomfort. Protective eyewear is used. The treatment focuses only on the eye area, so sessions are short.
Results and sessions
You may notice some tightening soon after, with the smoother, firmer result developing over several weeks as new collagen forms. A short course of sessions is commonly recommended for the best effect, with the exact number depending on your skin and goals — best confirmed at consultation.
Downtime and recovery
Downtime is minimal. Mild redness or warmth around the eyes is common and usually settles quickly, and most people return to normal activities the same day. There's typically no peeling, since the treatment is non-ablative.
Risks and side effects
SmoothEye is generally well tolerated in this sensitive area. Possible short-lived effects include redness, mild swelling or warmth around the eyes. As with any laser, less common effects can include changes in pigmentation, and proper eye protection during treatment is essential. A qualified practitioner will check your suitability first. People who are pregnant, have active infections or certain skin conditions in the area, or take photosensitising medication should mention this at consultation.
