Fotona TightSculpting is a non-invasive laser treatment for the body, used to tighten skin and help reduce stubborn areas of fat, without surgery or downtime. It's applied to areas like the abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms, back and under the chin.
It suits people wanting firmer skin and a smoother contour in specific areas — particularly mild skin laxity and localised fat that's resistant to diet and exercise. It's a contouring and tightening treatment, not a weight-loss method, and works best on people already close to their target shape rather than as a solution for significant weight loss.
How it works
TightSculpting is a dual-wavelength treatment combining Fotona's two lasers:
- A deep-heating step using the Nd:YAG laser in PIANO mode, which warms the deeper layers to target fat and stimulate collagen for tightening.
- A surface-smoothing step using the Er:YAG laser in SMOOTH mode, which firms and refines the skin's surface.
Together, the deep heating helps reduce localised fat and prompts collagen remodelling, while the surface step tightens and smooths — so the treatment addresses both firmness and contour in the same session. As with all collagen-based treatments, the tightening effect develops over the following weeks.
TightSculpting runs on the Fotona SP Dynamis platform. (Fotona's Dynamis laser family holds US FDA clearance for laser-assisted lipolysis and related applications; your clinic can confirm the specific indication for your treatment.)
What to expect
A session involves a warming sensation over the treated area as the laser works. No anaesthetic is typically needed, and there are no incisions or needles. Session length depends on the size of the area treated.
Results and sessions
Skin can feel firmer over the weeks following treatment as collagen develops, and contour changes build gradually. A course of sessions is commonly recommended for the best result, with the number depending on the area and your goals — best confirmed at consultation. Results are supported by a healthy lifestyle, since this is a contouring rather than weight-loss treatment.
Downtime and recovery
Downtime is minimal. Mild redness and warmth of the treated area are common briefly afterward, and most people return to normal activities the same day.
Risks and side effects
TightSculpting is generally well tolerated. Possible short-lived effects include redness, warmth, mild swelling or tenderness in the treated area. As with any laser, less common effects can include changes in pigmentation or, rarely, blistering. A qualified practitioner will assess your suitability and the area first. Pregnancy, certain medical conditions, active infections in the area, and photosensitising medication should be raised at consultation.
TightSculpting vs other body treatments
Compared with surgical liposuction, TightSculpting is non-invasive with little downtime, but produces more modest fat reduction and is aimed at contouring and tightening rather than removing larger volumes. Compared with fat-freezing (cryolipolysis), it adds a skin-tightening component through collagen stimulation. It's best thought of as a refinement and firming treatment for specific areas, not a weight-loss or surgical alternative.
